7 Ton Hydraulic Tensioner is used for two or single conductors stringing on 220 KV transmisson line. It is equipped with Water Cooled Cummins diesel engine, and Rexroth hydraulic pump, Italian R.R. reducer, AKG radiator, and Wika Hydraulic instrument.

There are three important steps for selection of hydraulic conductor tensioner:

First, it is important to know the diameter or model of biggest conductor in transmission line project, because the weight of conductor can be used to calculate the tension force on conductor.

Second, how many conductors in one phase of transmission line? Is it single conductor, two conductors, or four conductors transmission line?

Third, How is working condition of construction site? Is it Mountain area or flat lands? Are there big rivers or forest in the stringing section? Are there any corner towers in one stringing section? How many towers are there is one tension section?

For example, if we have a 220 KV transmission line in flat lands, it is two bundled conductors transmission line, the diameter of ACSR conductor is 28mm, the weight of conductor is about 1500 kg/km. if the pulling length is 5-6 kms per tension section. The tension force is about 1.5 ton per conductor, so we can use 6 ton (2X3 ton) Hydraulic conductor tensioner for the job, please note normally the tension force is lower than pulling force, because the pulling force is consumed on the transmission line during the stringing. After choosing the tensioner, we can select the puller. If we pull the same conductor on mountain area, we will have to use 8 ton hydraulic tensioner and 9 ton hydraulic puller.

Normally, experienced engineering people will choose the hydraulic conductor tensioner according to their own experience and the requirement in the future. If you are stringing two conductors now (9 ton puller with 8 ton tensioner), and will have four conductors stringing project in the future, customer will consider to use 2 of 8 ton tensioners (combination) in future projects.
